Recent speculation has identified midfielder, Youssef Ait Bennasser, as a possible Arsenal transfer target and suggestions are, that Monaco boss, Thierry Henry, could be interested in a deal but only if he secures the services of one, possibly even two, academy prospects.
Henry is only too aware of what Arsenal have developed and to further his own ambitions, he would want a reciprocal deal that involves a top talent.
Emile Smith Rowe could be at the top of that list or possibly Reiss Nelson, currently on loan at Hoffenheim, Joe Willock, Eddie Nketiah, Bukayo Saka or Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Henry has every right to play hardball with his former club but his association could prove beneficial for a deal involving Youssef Ait Bennasser, until the player is purchased in the summer for around £9 million.
Arsenal have hit a transfer wall at present because everyone is aware of their financial predicament and clubs keen to offload, are not showing much interest in such a protracted deal with no immediate financial gain.
The current stumbling block for Denis Suarez, is Barcelona’s insistence of tag on’s for appearances plus a number of other complex demands.
These appear to be due to Arsenal wanting to pay a minimal loan fee to his parent club, which includes his wages but Barcelona are holding on for that, plus a cast iron agreement to buy.
If Arsenal could do a deal, Henry provides the best route available and at least it involves someone of integrity.
However, Henry will only do a deal if he gets the right player/players in return.
Monaco are currently second from bottom in the French Ligue 1 and have just snapped up former Arsenal Captain, Cesc Fabregas.
